Journeys with the Inner Critic

Journeys with the Inner Critic, 5th June 2018

Ran at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama as part of the Central Alumni Network for therapists, counsellors, creative arts therapists and mental health professionals and trainees

No matter how hard you try, deep within you, you hear the whispers: ‘you are not enough’. You are not good enough; creative, brave, clever enough… Try again.. Yet, nothing will be “perfect”.. That familiar, old voice of your inner critic holding you back! Asking the impossible of you!

How can the painful demands of the inner critic be transformed and integrated? How can we use the energy of our critic towards creativity and life? How can we move towards feeling ‘enough’. This may be a personal enquiry for you, or more relevant for your client work.

This workshop is an invitation to connect with and listen to, the inner critic and give a place to what it needs to express. We will do this through movement, story enactment and ritual as well as process work in a circle.

When parts of us are deeply seen, when their needs are heard and held, we journey towards wholeness. As we do this, these parts begin to transform and they don’t need to work so hard any more. So, a warm invitation to this alchemical journey!

Reflections from souls I have journeyed with

  • "Müge's workshop was facilitated with such grace and skill, that it allowed me to drop into myself. It was a deeply moving experience for me, one that will stay with me for a long time to come."

  • "Müge is heartfelt facilitator, who gracefully held the group, allowing a deepening and opening, with something wonderfully surprising emerging through the dance and enactment. Highly recommended."

  • “....the question of 'where / what is home?'...I realised so much from such depth within me and my childhood in that day about what makes me feel safe and how important that is.”

  • "Müge brings a playfulness and beauty to her work, also has a real soulful depth to it. She is able to hold this lightness and depth in a way that feels safe and supportive."

  • “Müge has a wonderfully welcoming and positive presence; her smile puts you at ease and helps you open up to her and others, and to yourself..”

  • "Beautifully held and accessible for light touch or a deep dive.."

  • "From one of the workshops i attended, I remember the 'unbearable lightness of' being a feather....still to this day...it's probably been 10 years...and I remember it often when I feel particularly stressed."
